The UN Climate Change Conference brings together representatives of countries that have signed and ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The 2017 Climate Change Conference is held in Bonn, and the conference has been held annually for 23 years, hence the acronym COP23. The annual conference is the decision making body of the UNFCCC.
Besides the representatives of countries that have ratified the UNFCCC, representatives of United Nations System and its Specialized Agencies, inter-governmental organizations (IGOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are also present at such these conferences.
The NGOs represent a broad spectrum of interests, and include representatives from youth groups, women and gender, indigenous populations, to environmental groups, farming and agriculture, business and industry, research and academic institutes.
